PLAYDAYS

What is a Playday?
Once or twice a year the Choir used to host a day of Clarinet Choir Playing open to all adult clarinet players, who needed to be at a standard equivalent to about grade 5 or above. These were extremely popular events and normally attracted an excellently balanced choir, embracing the usual clarinet choir range of instruments from Eb to ContraBasses. In 2010 the choir celebrated its fiftieth Playday!

The Playdays were directed by the TCC Musical Director, sometimes with guest conductors. The intention was to play a wide and extensive repertoire, rehearsing some pieces more thoroughly and playing through others with very little rehearsal. Apart from the refreshment stops it was a day of continuous playing being enjoyed by all.

Unfortunately there have been no Playdays since 2014 as they were deemed financially unviable. Hopefully they will be resurrected sometime in the future.
